This is my 20th year of being a professional freelance photographer. During that time I have worked for individuals but predominantly national and international companies supplying high quality photographs for brochures and websites. Additionally I have run workshops in France, Italy and the UK. I still gain huge enjoyment from taking pictures for myself of place, people and things.
I am very excited to this year be offering a long weekend workshop with a homely and friendly feel at La Ronciere. Whether you are a beginner or perhaps returning to photography anew in this digital age, all abilities will be catered for. It is not about having the latest and greatest equipment, but rather about gaining a better understanding of light, composition and attention to the basic technical details. There will be sessions out in the field at various locations as well as tutorials at la Ronciere, the aim of both being to enhance your picture taking skills and better equip you to be able to take consistently high quality images and derive more pleasure from the process.
The itinerary over all the days will enable sufficient time for one to one input as well as group tutorials covering range of topics, including but not limited to understanding light, composition, perspective, camera craft, planning a shoot and post production. The flexible nature of working at La Ronciere will enable other topics of interest to be given time if required.
The workshop will begin at 12.00 noon on 9th September and finish at 12.00 noon on Monday 12th September. Transport from La Ronciere to nearby locations will be provided for you during this workshop, as will your accommodation and all meals. It is not a mountainous region around La Ronciere but a reasonable level of fitness is required for participants and some walking over possibly hilly terrain can be expected in connection with accessing landscape locations. If you have any queries about this aspect please get in touch. Walking boots and waterproofs are the landscape photographers essentials and you should bring them – hopefully we will not need the waterproofs.
As far as your equipment is concerned, I would suggest you bring everything you have including a tripod.
The nature of this weekend will be an informative but gentle photographic event with much emphasis on enjoying not only your picture taking in an extremely attractive area of the Dordogne, but also on informative tutorials while enjoying the hospitality at the charming establishment that is La Ronciere. Each day we will do morning and evening session out in the field, returning to base for all meals.
